Since a very young age, I have always loved fitness and sports.  In high school I played year round volleyball for four years, was on the varsity softball team as a freshman and sophomore, and pole vaulted in track and field my junior and senior years.  During the summer, I enjoyed pushing myself to the limit in water skiing.  I knew early on that I wanted to work in the health field and have physical fitness be a big part of my life.

I went on to attend and graduate from Oregon State University with both my Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Exercise and Sport Science.  The human body has always fascinated me with it’s ability to react and adapt to various types of physical conditioning.  It is an amazing machine and beautiful piece of art, with incredible capabilities.  I loved not only learning about exercise physiology, but also applying it to my daily life and training goals.  In college I got into running 10 and 15K’s recreationally.  It wasn’t until the latter part of college that weight training impacted me in a big way.

Once I started working out with my soon-to-be husband in the weight room, I began to really learn the “correct” way to weight train most effectively.  Reviewing the knowledge I had learned in school and with his experience, I began to take my conditioning to new levels.  I was inspired by another young woman at my gym to take my training to the next level and compete in Figure.  Having always been naturally inclined to watching what I eat and eating healthfully, it was a natural fit.  In addition to this, I loved the toned look of the figure athlete and I felt my physique had the potential to be a good match for the sport.  I began working with a trainer and I was so inspired and empowered by taking my physique to levels of conditioning I never thought possible.

I received my pro card at the 2008 Jr. Nationals Figure Championships in Chicago, IL, and I will be making my IFBB Figure Pro debut in early 2009, as well as continuing to fitness model.  I love the fitness lifestyle and being a part of the fitness industry.  I am proud of all the modeling work I have been able to do as well.  I have worked with some great photographers that truly have captured the beauty of the human body and all of its artistic form and expression.  I also love being an inspiration to my students, friends, family, and peers.  Any chance I get to encourage someone to live a healthier and more positive lifestyle, I will.  There are so many things this sport has taught me, and some of the biggest things are: the importance of discipline, dedication, consistency, balance spiritually, emotionally,  and physically, surrounding myself with positive people, thoughts and influences, being happy and secure with everything you are as an individual, and that we are more powerful than we can possibly imagine!

Thank You’s

I would like to thank my dear family and friends for all of their love, support, and being there to encourage me in all of my fitness endeavors.  Thank you to my trainer for your hard work and dedication to my fitness goals.  Thank you to all my “fans” out there as well that have lent so much encouragement, support, and messages of appreciation.  You all really make what I do so worth while, and I treasure the relationships I have made through this journey I am on.  I thank God for giving me this life I have. Without Him, none of this would be possible.   I am grateful and blessed to be able to do what I do and have all of these wonderful experiences.  So as long as I am able, and the doors of opportunity keep opening, I will be very much a part of the fitness industry.
